The @ TorontoMapleLeafs lose Game 7. Again. Anyone is welcome to stop me if they have heard this story before. They play like they're one of the best teams in the NHL for a full season, and then they fall apart as soon as the games actually matter.

How is anyone ever meant to care about any regular season game this team plays ever again? Clearly it's not indicative of how they will play when they need to show up.

Also, I would be stunned if this wasn't Justin Holl's last game in a Leaf's jersey. I do not believe I have ever seen him play well, and it is hard to say that I am sad to see him go.

The most amazing thing we learned this series is that it is illegal to even look at Stephen Stamkos if he's chasing someone down, but apparently wakeboarding is legal in the NHL so long as the surfer is Alex Killorn and the board is Austin Freaking Matthews.

On the one hand, it could be claimed that the Leafs did a phenomenal job considering black and white stripes were apparently the secret alternate Tampa jersey this series. On the other, Wes McCauley and Eric Furlatt have a combined 1500 games, 320 playoff games, and a combined 40 years of experience.

Bottom line, this team could not get it done. Again. And the fact that for a moment they tricked me into thinking that they could makes it all the more painful.

...the worst part is, I am being irrational and I know it. Last year the team blew a 3-1 lead against a terrible opponent. This year it was the twice-reigning champions, and they almost won. The owners objectively made all the right calls, the team played great. Their best just was not good enough this time.
